SMHS had a fantastic opportunity to visit an aircraft restoration workshop "somewhere in England."
A party of 20 SMHS members arrived at an undisclosed location to be shown around works that rebuilds and restores historic airframes to either display or airworthy standard.
The ongoing projects included a First World War De Haviland DH9 bomber and a Sopwith Pup. Airframes in the pipeline included a Russian Yak and a German Me 109.
The sheer quality and precision of the engineering across the different construction materials was nothing short of mind-blowing!
Access to this workshop is limited, and so we would like to thank the organisers for their time and permitting us to see the fantastic work they do. SMHS made a donation to the workshop who donated it to a charity of their choice.
For just £10 per year, you can join SMHS and be involved in our projects!
